Dry weather spreads viruses.

District Secretary of the Bogawantalawa District Dr. SSJayasooriya said a large number of children and adults are coming for treatment at the OPD of the hospital due to prevailing drought.
These patients are having symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and pain in the abdomen, some of them are receiving treatment in the hospital, stated the District Medical Officer.

Doctors suspect that this virus had spread among the plantation labourers due to the consumption of unpurified drinking water.

The District Medical Officer requests the residents to drink boiled water in this hot weather and to wash well after using the toilets.

The condition of the patients receiving treatment at the hospital due to the spread of the virus is not critical, the District Medical Officer added.
