2018 G.C.E. O/L RESULTS ARE RELEASED



Nilakna of Visaka Vidyalaya, Colombo has come first while second places are from Rathnawali College Gampaha, Visaka Vidyalaya Colombo and Sujatha Vidyalaya Matara.

The results of the GCE ordinary level examinations 2018 have been released by the Examinations Department yesterday (28). 
Accordingly, Nilakna Disiwari Warushawithana from Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo ranked first in the country.

There are three joint second places; Savithi Hansadi from Visakha Vidyalaya , Colombo,  Sanjani Dileka Kumari from Rathnavali Balika College, Gampaha and Mindhi Rebeka from Sujatha Vidyalaya Matara. 

The fifth place went to Gayathri Harshila Lihinikaduarachchi from St. Joseph's Girls College Kegalle.

The five students who achieved sixth place were Sandali Muthunima Rathnayake from Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo, Sahan Yasanka Samarakoon from Royal College, Colombo, Kaviru Methnuka from Royal College, Colombo, Shasmitha Akashwara Liyanage from Mahinda College, Galle and Himashi Erandika Samarasinghe Pathirana from Thakshila Central College, Horana.

Kanjipani and rotuba amila were arrested by CID

 


Mohamed Nanjim Imran and Rotumba Amila and another person who got arrested in dubai had arrived in Sri Lanka this morning, from Dubai.
The police media spokesman's office stated that they were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for interrogation after they arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning.
Police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana said that they had planned to go to Maldives after he arrived in the country.
However, the Police Media Spokesperson further stated that officers of the CID who had acted promptly, arrested them at the airport.
Meanwhile, the Colombo Crimes Division arrested the prison officer Lalith Kumara and Nadimal Perera who deported from Dubai.
They were later questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department and the Police Narcotics Bureau and Nedamal Perera for interrogation for 8 hours and then released around 3 pm.
However, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Police Narcotics Bureau (TID) interrogated the prison officer and arrested him

Nadeemal Perera is deported to Sri Lanka from Dubai.




Two have been deported from Dubai, who was arrested along with the underworld leader, Makadhure Madhush.
Nadeemal Perera the son of Amal Perera and the prison officer Lalith Kumara , had arrived in the Katunayake International Airport this morning (27) following their
deportation from Dubai.
Subsequently they were interrogated by the CID and the Police Narcotics Bureau, the police media spokesman's office said.
He is to be produced to court today.

Nadeemal Perera, who was arrested by Dubai Police recently, was later confirmed with that there were no narcotic substances found in his blood samples. 
They were arrested with Makadure Madhush at a party with drugs.

Nadeemal is released seven hours later!

The Police Narcotics Bureau and the Criminal Investigations Department have finished questioning the son of Amal Perera's son Nadeemal Perera. 
Deported from Dubai singer Nadeemal Perera has left for questioning for seven hours and left after questioning.
The Prison guard Lalith Kumara is kept for further questioning, police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said. The Colombo Crimes Division is conducting further inquiries

Tomorrow the temperature felt on human body will be                                                          increased



The temperature felt on the human body is expected to increase up to “Extreme Caution” level in most parts of the North-western province and Mannar, Gampaha and Colombo tomorrow, the Department of Meteorology warned.
The heat indicator has shown this.Accordingly, the temperature is between 32 and 41 degrees Celsius.
Therefore, the people in the work site should stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade as often.
It also advises not to leave children  alone in the vehicles.
The Meteorological Department also informs to limit heavy work and use white or light colored casual clothes.

Prachang Rath party has won in Thailand general election

   

Thailand's military pro-prachng Rath has won the election.
 According to the results released by the election, Prachang Rath has won 7.6 million votes. Foreign policy reports that Prchang Rut has more than 0.5 million votes ahead of the Piyu Tai party, according to foreign reports.
Piyu-tai, led by former President Takshyn Shinwatra, has won continuing electoral victories since 2011. The Thai army seized power in Thailand in 2014.
The final results of the General Elections in Thailand will be released today (25).

Fire erupts in a textile store in Wattala -  Negombo-Colombo                  main road is temporarily closed



A fire broke out in a textile shop in the Wattala area.

The Police have said that the Peliyagoda and Colombo fire extinguishers have been deployed to curb the fire.

As a result Colombo - Negombo main road has been temporarily closed down near the Wattala Police Station.

Sri lanka Journal reporter said the building is a four storied one.

By now, 20,000 liters of water have been used to curb the fire but the fire has not yet come to a halt.

It was reported that this fire has occurred around 9.00 pm on 24th March and it is reported that this store belongs to the Group of ASP

 18 Houses Damaged Due To Cyclone




18 houses were damaged in the Udugala-north area in Ayagama, resulting in strong winds.
Police said that the loss caused by the wind blowing in the evening of yesterday evening has not yet been estimated.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western province.
According to the Department of Meteorology, in some places some fairly heavy showers may occur several millimeters and there may be strong winds.
Britain's withdrawal from the EU has been postponed



The European Union has agreed to extend the period of British separation process from European union.
 Prime Minister Theresa is scheduled to bring a proposal to the parliament next week on the termination of the Brexit process. If the members of the parliament pass it, they will be allowed to put off the deadline until May 22 to terminate the Brexit process.Otherwise, the European Union members have decided to limit that date to April 12.
Earlier plans were set aside for Britain to complete the Brexit process on March 29 at 11:00 pm. However, the British Prime Minister Theresa failed to complete the Brexit process on the scheduled date, as the resolution brought by her was defeated by Parliament of Britain three times. Accordingly, the UK and the European Union had requested the extension of the BRC process.

AN IRAQIAN SENT BACK FOR KEEPING A FAKE BRITISH PASSPORT



Department of emigration and immigration has arrested an Iraqi national at Katunayake international airport yesterday morning who tried to fly to Britain using a fake passport. He has arrived to Sri Lanka by FZ-557 aeroplane which belongs to fly Dubai service.
The staff of department of emigration and immigration of Sri Lanka got suspicious about this guy. However they questioned him and checked his passport again with a special machine and got to know that it was fake. And when checking his luggage, they found his Iraq passport which was hidden in a t-shirt.
After taking his fake Britain passport in to custody of the department of emigration and immigration he has been sent to Dubai using his valid Iraq passport.

GOVERNMENT STATES THAT THE REPORTS ABOUT ARJUN MAHENDRAN FROM SINGAPORE CANNOT BE ACCEPTED



The SL Government states that the statements made by the media in Sri Lanka regarding  Arjuna Mahendran the former Central Bank Governor are not acceptable as the statements from the Government of Singapore.

The Presidential media stated that a report published by the Sri Lankan media had been completely out of the question, citing a report published by the Singapore Foreign Ministry spokesman.

Arrangements have been made to provide the necessary information to Arjuna Mahendran's request for extradition to Sri Lanka, the Ministry of External Affairs stated.

However, the Presidential media unit has said that the Singapore Government has not given any official statement to the authorities regarding the statement made by the President regarding Arjuna Mahendran.

The announcement states that the Government of Sri Lanka has made an official request at diplomatic level on the 28th of May last year to extradite Arjuna Mahendran to the country.

According to the Presidential Media Unit, the Ministry of External Affairs of Singapore has informed the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense and the relevant authorities  that the Attorney General has focused on the request made by them.

During the official visit to Singapore the President Maithripala Sirisena has requested the Prime Minister of Singapore to extradite Arjuna Mahendran to SL. According to the Presidential Media Unit the request was made on the basis of the red warrant issued by international police.

2nd T20I (N), Sri Lanka tour of South Africa at Centurion





The second T-20 of 3 match series between Sri Lanka and south Africa will be at centurian today. It will start at 9.30pm.(SL time) This match is important to Sri Lanka since they lost the first twenty twenty match in a thrilling super over.
Centurian is favorable for seamers. Sri Lanka played 1 match in Centurian against South Africa but they lost it.
However if Lasith Malinga the captain of Sri Lanka who has taken 96 wickets in 71 matches is able to take 2 wickets in today's match he can share the record of most wickets taken in T-20s with Shahid Afridi. If he takes 4 wickets he can be the highest wicket taker in T-20s  and he will be the first one to take 100 wickets in T-20s.
Today there will be no change in Sri Lanka's team. But if they make a change, Sadeera Samarawickrama will be in place of Niroshan Dickwalla.

THE OIL REFINERY AT MIRIJJAWILA IS TO BE COMMENCED ON THE 24TH OF                                                                          MARCH


The deputy minister Nalin Bandara claimed, that the oil refinery at hambanthota, Mirijjawila is to be commenced on the 24th of March.
He also said, this Mirijjawila refinery can produce a capacity five times as of Sapugaskanda.
The non cabinet minister stated this, at a media conference held in Colombo.
FRANCE TO GRANT UNSPARING CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT OF                                                                               SRI LANKA




Sri lankan ambassadior to France Eric Lavarthu stated that, decisions will be made based on the experiences of Sri lanka’s situation, without any agenda.
There has been close ties between Sri Lanka and France since the ancient times, and by no means will act unfavorably to Sri Lanka, he stated in a meeting, with the most venerable chief thero of Asgiri chapter.
The French ambassador also visited the most venorable chief thero warakagoda Gyanarathana when he visited the Asgiri temple.
Furthermore he stated that, France usually grants, unsparing contributions towards the development of Sri Lanka and so far had developed few tanks in Matale area in order to enhance the agricultural advancement.
He also stated that, measure have been taken for the preservation of places which are of archaeological value in the Kandy, and to make awareness of its importance to the public.
In addition he also stated that, It is important to secure the historical and artistic value of the Kandy city, which has been declared as a world heritage by the UNESCO and also emphasis has to be made about air pollution and heavy traffic congestion exists there.
He claimed that, France also made various dedications while moving towards development and as a result of that there are a very least number of private vehicles that travels in main cities.
A majority of the commuters have been utilizing trains and public transport and in the early stage in development of the Kandy city, it may be required to be dedicated.
But, as a result of it, gains benefits of the development later.
They have presented proposals regarding some development issues and if the Sri Lankan government guides with proper leadership then the French government will interfere in launching vital development projects. He added.

A NATIONAL ACTIVITY PLAN TO ERADICATE BRIBE AND CORRUPTION   
                                                 LAUNCHED TOMORROW                                  



A national activity plan to eradicate bribe and corruption from Sri Lanka, is to be launched tommorow by the President Maithreepala Sirisena.
The main objectives of this plan are, to bring up children who are rich in good morals, to impose an efficient private and public service and to impose a procedure where all are considered to be equal legally.

The bribery commission, the presidential secretariat, the ministry of public administration and all civil servants are all incorporated in order to get public opinion about the state plan on this.

PRESIDENT'S ATTENTION TO FROM A SPECIAL COURT FOR DRUG CRIMES !!!





President Maithreepala Sirisena has focused on, establishing a special court for drug offence at a special meeting held later this evening.
A special discussion was held, about bills in controlling drugs and minimizing related crimes at the presidential secretariat today.
President has claimed that he intends to have discussions about these, in the up-coming cabinet meetings.
Furthermore, president claimed that, the undue delays in trials related to drugs, has been a severe drawback for the ongoing activities related to anti drug campaigns.
Also the president pointed out that, the importance in amendments to the methodology related to destroying the drugs taken into custody and the prevailing judicial provisions towards this regard.
