A MADUSH COLLEAGUE HAS BEEN ARRESTED, FOR GEM ROBBERY



In connection to the robbery of gems including a diamond worth of million rupees recently, a close colleague of Makandure Madush, the criminal gang leader, has been arrested.

Mirihana Special Criminal Investigation Unit has arrested the suspect, 31 year old Kasun Dhananjaya aka Vedikande Kasun from Wattala early this morning.

A group of robbers attired in clothes similar to police uniforms and civilian clothes had robbed these gems from a house at Pannipitiya on November 5th last year.

A foreign buyer was with the owner of the gems at the latter's home when the robbers stormed the house. The robbers had kidnapped the foreigner but abandoned in Arawwala Maharagama.

Even so, police arrested two suspects including Thusitha Maduranaga aka Matara Malli were in connection with the robbery and Kasun Dhananjaya was arrested today on the information provided by the previous suspects.

On the other hand, Over 23 bank accounts belonging to Makandure Madush in Sri Lanka and Dubai has been inspected by the Terrorism Investigation Division .
